Will Job Retraining Help?

If you are unable to work due to a disability, you may be eligible for vocational rehabilitation. At Dale Buchanan & Associates, our lawyers never discourage our clients from obtaining job retraining. Most people are healthier and happier if they are able to work.

We offer a free initial consultation to answer your questions about disability benefits, vocational rehabilitation and work incentive programs.

Am I Eligible For Vocational Rehabilitation?

If you have a disability, you may qualify for vocational rehabilitation if:

  • You have a physical or mental impairment that presents a substantial impediment to employment
  • You would be able to benefit from vocational rehabilitation services
  • You require vocational rehabilitation services to prepare for employment

If you are receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you are automatically eligible for vocational rehabilitation. You will not lose your medical eligibility for SSDI or SSI based on your participation in a vocational rehabilitation program, but any earnings you receive may affect your benefits. The Social Security Administration offers incentive programs to minimize the effect that earnings have on your disability benefits.
