How important are SSI benefits to Tennessee children?

Supplemental Security Income is a program that benefits many poor and disabled Americans, including many Tennessee residents. The government program is extensive, and every year 7 million adults receive more than $50 billion in assistance. Children are also covered by SSI benefits; more than a million children are helped by the program each year. Recent research, however, has shown that when children turn 18 and their SSI benefits end, they often have trouble keeping those SSI benefits because they cannot demonstrate continued need.

What Social Security benefits can Tennessee veterans receive?

Military service members put their lives on the line for the safety of their fellow Americans. Although a number of service members return safely from wars, there are others who come back to their respective homes suffering from war-related injuries or illnesses who often need long-term medical care. Tennessee veterans, however, should not be disheartened. The Social Security Administration has benefit programs available for veterans after they complete their tour of duty.

Are mental disorders covered by SSDI benefits?

Occupational diseases are not limited to physical manifestations. There are times when workers can develop a mental illness because of exposure to certain chemicals, a traumatic experience at work or as a result of a workplace accident or injury. Tennesseans who suffer from mental disorders often needs continuous medication and long-term care. This, of course, can be very expensive. Fortunately, Social Security Disability Insurance benefits can cover mental disorders. However, Tennesseans should be aware of how the SSDI benefits work.

What is Supplemental Security Income and who is eligible for it?

Many older Tennessee residents draw Social Security benefits, and some citizens draw Social Security Disability Insurance benefits. But people who have certain disabilities, such as blindness, and also have little or no income have another option available to them: Supplemental Security Income.

Fighting on behalf of Tennessee veterans with denied SSD claims

Veterans, whether from Tennessee or any other state in the United States, sacrificed their own safety to fight for our country. They also endured being away from their families and other hardships just to make sure we enjoy the freedom that we have today. It is disheartening that despite their unwavering service, when they finally came home after experiencing war-related injuries or illnesses, their claims for veterans' benefits are denied.
