VA offers help with vocational rehabilitation and reemployment

Most Tennessee residents would probably agree that the nation's veterans deserve to be treated with great respect for their sacrifices on behalf of the country. Even so, some returning veterans who suffered disabling injuries or illnesses require considerable help. To try to meet their needs, the Department of Veterans Affairs is offering vocational rehabilitation and employment training for those disabled in the line of duty.

Can people receive SSI benefits while still working?

Many disabled or blind Tennessee residents depend upon the benefits they receive through the Social Security Disability Insurance or Supplemental Security Income programs. Some people who are receiving these benefits may wonder if they are allowed to hold down a job on a part-time basis while continuing to receive the benefits.

How does SSA expedite SSDI benefits for Tennesseans?

Many people in Chattanooga, Tennessee, rely on Social Security benefits at some stage of their life. In order to receive benefits, people pay social security taxes, which later benefit them upon retirement, or in the event of disabilities or illness. In return, the Social Security Administration is obligated to provide benefits to those individuals whose health meets the disability standards set by SSA.

How workers' compensation cases affect SSDI benefits

If a worker in Tennessee is injured on the job, that worker is entitled to file a workers' compensation claim to recover the costs of medical treatment and lost income. However, filing a workers' comp claim can affect a worker's Social Security Disability Insurance benefits, although qualifying for workers' compensation benefits does not mean an injured worker will automatically qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance benefits.
