Women veterans' disability benefits in Tennessee

Military service was traditionally viewed as a man's job. However, with the passage of time more and more women have served in the military. Many Tennessee female veterans who have been on active service and deployment have also suffered injuries in the line of duty. Therefore, under Tennessee law, veterans' disability benefits are thus extended to many women veterans.

Many veterans who have been on active deployment have often come home to find that they are not only disabled but also facing various financial adversities. Such financial adversities have even led to many veterans being rendered homeless. However, programs have been initiated by the veterans association in order to address all such problems.

A women veterans summit was held in Tennessee to address all veterans' issues and help them live their lives to the fullest. Many female veterans, who are often referred to as "GI Janes," have lost their limbs, suffered fractures or even suffered from severe post-traumatic stress syndrome due to the nature of their service, and all these issues may lead to potential disability. Tennessee law thus requires veterans' disability benefits to be extended to women veterans as well as men.

The summit proposed increased vigilance presiding over such veterans' disability benefits. Questionnaires were proposed in order to better understand the various issues that may affect female veterans. Many female veterans have been subjected to military sexual harassment. Such sexual trauma may also lead to severe psychological disability. Female veterans would now be eligible for veterans' disability benefits in such cases as well. It was also reported that there will be no need to prove a nexus between the service and the sexual assault in order to prove military sexual trauma.
