How does the One-Third Reduction Provision affect SSI benefits?

As people in Tennessee may be aware, the purpose of the Social Security Administration's Supplemental Security Program is to support those people who have limited resources and are unable to work because of their disability, blindness or advanced age. The SSA may also grant SSI benefits to certain disabled and blind children. In all cases, the SSI benefits are determined based on the applicant's existing income.

Reasons behind disability claim rejections-Part II

Social Security Disability benefits are crucial for many disabled people in Tennessee and throughout the United States. However, many people know that SSD benefit claims are often rejected by the Social Security Administration. A previous post here discussed some of the reasons why those claims are rejected. In addition to the reasons mentioned in that post, such as work credits, income, type of disability and ability to work, there are certain other reasons why the SSA can reject a claim.

How to appeal a denial of Social Security benefits

When you apply for Social Security Disability benefits, there is always a chance that your claim may be declined by the Social Security Administration. After a denial, you may appeal to the SSA within 60 days to reconsider their decision and review your case. To do so, one stage of an appeal is an administrative law judge hearing.

Reasons behind disability claim rejections -- Part I

Tennessee residents who make a claim for Social Security disability benefits should not be surprised if their claims are initially rejected. A recent study found that only one-third of claims filed last year were approved by the Social Security Administration. To avoid rejection, an Social Security Disability Insurance claim must conform to all rules and regulations to ensure it is not turned down. Here are some common reasons why an SSDI benefits claim may be turned down.
