Attorneys have helped injured Tennesseans obtain SSDI benefits

Tennesseans are hard-working individuals. Whether they are bus drivers, construction workers or teachers, thousands of Tennesseans perform skilled and important jobs. When they become injured at work, however, these employees may no longer be able to perform their jobs. As this blog reported in a previous post, workers who are injured on the job may qualify not only for workers' compensation benefits, but also for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits.

Will the SSA pay for Tennesseans' SSI-related travel expenses?

When a Tennessee resident applies for disability benefits, he or she will be required to furnish information about his or her disabling medical condition. Often, this will mean that a Tennessean may need to obtain medical tests or exams to document his or her condition. Such tests may necessitate travel, which can be expensive and tax a person's already limited resources. Fortunately, the Social Security Administration may pay such travel costs for a recipient of SSI benefits.

SSA has five-question process for determining SSDI eligibility

For a person to receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits, he or she must apply to the Social Security Administration (SSA). The SSA will consider a person's application and go through a specific process before either awarding or denying SSDI benefits. It may be helpful for Tennessee residents to be familiar with the questions that the SSA will ask when considering a person's application.

Are SSDI benefits available if I was injured on the job?

To be injured at your workplace can be a scary occurrence for a Tennessee resident. Used to earning a regular paycheck, an injured Tennessean may be frightened and unsure how he or she will provide for his or her family. Fortunately, in addition to possible workers' compensation benefits, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits may be available for those persons who have suffered a work-related injury.
