Will I qualify for SSDI benefits if I have epilepsy?

Epilepsy is a neurological condition. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a person has epilepsy once he or she has had two or more seizures, and the seizures may be of more than one type. Seizures can be debilitating, but, fortunately, there may be help for Tennesseans with epilepsy in the form of Social Security Disability Insurance benefits (SSDI).

Study reveals SSDI beneficiaries' representative payee needs

Tennesseans who seek Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits do so because they have medical needs that prevent them from working. Their medical limitations may vary widely, and may be due to any number of circumstances, but all applicants seek SSDI benefits due to need.

SSA's new waiver process may affect Tennessee SSI recipients

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has adopted a new waiver process that will affect those Tennessee residents who both receive Supplemental Security Income benefits and are in same-sex marriages. Under the waiver process, those Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries who are in same-sex marriages will be identified. The SSA will then presume a waiver has been requested for each beneficiary, and also presume that these persons are without fault. Previously, some persons in same-sex marriages who applied for SSI-related benefits may have been denied waivers for various reasons.
